A SCHOOLBOY cyclist has died after his bike collided with a van driven by a Wearside man.
The 45-year-old from Houghton was in a red Fiat van when it was involved in a crash with the 15-year-old’s bike at Mecklin Beck, Santon Bridge, Holmrook, in Cumbria.
The cyclist, Jake Knott, from East Bergholt in Suffolk, was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary with serious injuries including severe head, back and neck injuries.
Jake, who had been on holiday with his father then the accident happened, later died.
Cumbria Constabulary said the van driver was uninjured and is not suspected of any offence.
The collision happened at 11am on Saturday.
