Houghton Older People’s enterprise members will restart their new year activities with entertainment by popular singer Sandra Atherton in the Methodist Church hall at 1pm on Thursday.

At the last meeting of the year of Chilton Moor WI, members were entertained by the Manse singers. Members held their Christmas party at Hallgarth Manor, Pittington, which was enjoyed by all. It is also with great sadness that members remember one of their loyal and long standing members, Peggy Evans. Peggy not only held a position as Chilton Moor WI President but was also treasurer for Tyne and Wear South Federation and sat on may committees within the Federation. Condolences are sent to her family and friends. She will be much missed.

Gilpin Womens Institute will hold its first meeting of the new year in St Michaels Kepier Hall at 1.30pm on Thursday, when the speaker will be Sunderland Historian Philip Curtis with an illustrated talk on the area in the 1950s and 1960s.a

Houghton Methodists Womens Fellowship members ended their year with a carol service followed by tea and mince pies and are now closed until Wednesday, January 20.
Sunniside Methodists Womens Fellowship members ended their year with a Carol Service led by Jean Shotton and will resume their activities on Tuesday, January 12.
