HOTEL staff are getting on their bikes to help a heart charity.

A team of five workers from the Radisson Blu hotel, at Framwelgate Waterside, in Durham City, are doing the Durham to York leg of a 1,300-mile relay bike ride from Aberdeen to Southend, in Essex.

The rest of the journey is being ridden by teams from other hotels in the group.

Money from the 15-day ride will go towards Cardiac Risk in the Young, which aims to identify young people at risk of heart problems.

Neal Holloway, general manager of the Radisson Durham, said: “We are proud to be part of this event and we’ve put ourselves through some tough training for our leg which is about 80 miles.

“The team is looking forward to it, and we are hoping to raise as much as we can for the charity.”
