A HOMELESS man found dead on the streets of Durham City has been named.
Paramedics tried to save Ian Hallimond after a woman saw him in distress.
The 45-year-old, believed to be originally from Seaham, was found in a bus shelter in Church Street.
He was taken to the University Hospital of North Durham, on Friday, but pronounced dead shortly afterwards.
Captain Gary Lacey, of the Salvation Army, met Mr Hallimond through the Sanctuary 21 project.
He said Mr Hallimond was “a lovely guy,” and added: “He was always respectful and appreciated what people were doing for him.”
An inquest into Mr Hallimond’s death was due to be opened today.
