POORLY youngsters were given a boost after receiving gifts as part of a holy day.
Members of the North East Islamic Group were at Sunderland Royal Hospital as they marked Eid, which took place yesterday as the holy month of Ramadan came to an end. To celebrate, those who are part the Islamic Diversity Centre dressed as famous characters such as Buzzz Lightyear and Wolverine before handing over presents to the children at the Royal’s paediatric wards.
Project Manager Abu Tayeb said: “These kids have had a tough time. We wanted to bring a smile to their faces and show their parents that we care. Eid is a day of celebration and we want these kids to share in the happiness.”
