The Music Makers Ladies’ Choir is busy rehearsing for a choral spectacular at The Sage, Gateshead, on Saturday, April 9. The event marks the visit of the board of The National Association of Choirs, who are holding their AGM in Newcastle. The ladies will be joined by other ladies’ choirs from across the region and also male and mixed voice choirs will participate. After this event the ladies will start rehearsing a new repertoire, which will be performed at their annual charity concert in St Chad’s Church on Saturday, July 16.
Herrington WI will be meeting on Tuesday, April 5, at 7pm in St Chad’s Church hall. The guest will be Margaret Carter, who will be demonstrating her marvellous sugarcraft skills. As ever, both old and new members will be made most welcome.
Farringdon Inspires Academy Primary School Karate Club sent some of its students to a martial arts competiton. The team came home with a number of trophies. Ladies are wanted to attend a new adult colouring class to take place in Middle Herrington Methodist Church either Monday from 1pm-3pm or Friday from 1pm-3pm. Adult colouring is a proven therapy which soothes the mind, helps with mental health issues, confidence and improving social skills. Sessions will cost £2.50 to cover costs of the church hall and refreshments. About 12 ladies are needed for the class to cover costs. A craft class, including card making, meets in Middle Herrington Methodist Church in Crow Lane on Thursdays from 10am to noon. Beginners are welcome. On Wednesdays a knit and natter and patchwork group meets from 10am to noon. For more information, ring Mary on 520 0835.
