The four weeks leading up to Christmas were especially busy for the committee members of Lakeside Residents’ Association and they would like to thank everyone who helped and supported them. Thanks go to the residents of Lakeside who bought raffle and bingo tickets, those who came to the lighting of the first ever Christmas tree, the annual Christmas concert and to the panto, who ignored the mistakes and laughed at the poor jokes. Thanks also go to the Mayor of Sunderland, Councillor Barry Cullen, and the children of Farringdon and Plains Farm Junior Academies who sang so beautifully at the events. Thank you to Thompson’s Printers of Sunderland for its generous donation of a microwave oven for the raffle and to Lakeside shop, community cafe and hairdresser for their continued support, not forgetting the local councillors, Gentoo staff and management who support and encourage members throughout the year – very big and heartfelt thank you to one and all.
