The Herrington village show group have met to confirm arrangements for the village show on Saturday, September 5, in the Scout Hut,Crow Lane, Middle Herrington.
Ladies from the Townswomen’s Guild and Women’s Institute will be providing cream teas from the show opening to the public at 2pm. The Embroiderer’s Guild will be demonstrating their skills and will have a sales table. A special exhibition table featuring the WI project to mark its centenary celebrations is planned. The Board Inn Leek Club is organising the horticulture side of the show and wishes to encourage more individual entries. The Sugarcraft section is being expanded after previous years success. The photographic theme is Sunderland bridges’ The children’s section will again be sponsored by Olivers Dental Studio. Last year’s winners are asked to return trophies back to the show chairman as soon as possible.Show schedules available by calling 5280580 . Sheila Quigley Houghton’s successful authoress will present the prizes at 4pm.
Lakeside Residents’ Association will be holding its fourth AGM on Wednesday, September 2, from 2pm-4pm in Lakeside Community Centre. Sunderland’s Mayor and Mayoress will be attending together with local councilors, priests, police and Gentoo representatives.
There will be a free buffet and the chairman will give a presentation of the association’s achievements.
The AGM of Sunderland Embroiderers’ Guild will be held at St Aidan’s Parish Centre, New Herrington, on Saturday, September 19, at 2pm.
