VISITORS went behind the scenes of the region’s biggest theatre.
The Sunderland Empire threw open its doors as part of the annual Heritage Open Days scheme. As part of the event, BBC Look North presenter Jeff Brown, from Sunderland, was on hand to launch a new visitors book at the High Street West venue.
Heritage Open Days celebrate England’s architecture and culture by offering free access to places that are usually closed to the public or normally charge for admission. Visitors to the theatre were able to view memorabilia from shows and find out more about the history of the Edwardian building.
