Sunderland Pianoforte Society, which meets in the Sunderland Pottery Room at Sunderland Museum and Winter Gardens, Burdon Road, will meet on Tuesday, February 2, for its 441st recital at 7.15pm. Pianist will be Alexander Soarez. Full subscription (six recitals) £60, Individual recitals £12.50 accompanied children (16 and under) free, full-time students and those in receipt of benefit, £6. Alexander Soarez, a London-born pianist, is increasingly in demand as a soloist and is a recent winner of the prestigious Royal Overseas League Keyboard competition 2015. The programme will include Bach: Partita No. 5 in G major BWV 829. Debussy: Children’s Corner. Chopin: Polonaise-Fantaisie Op. 61. Schumann: Kreisleriana Op 16.

Go along to the visitor centre on Church Street East to see the extensive library and large scale replica of HMS Venerable plus the work recreating a double capstan, the like of which has not been seen on Wearside for more than 200 years.
