HOUSING company Gentoo has officially launched a partnership with leading UK debt charity StepChange to support customers who find themselves in debt.
The service will sit alongside existing face-to-face specialist services, delivered by the Wearside housing group, enabling customers to benefit from free debt advice service with quick, same day responses and online tools.
Vic Mackay-Parkin, Gentoo financial wellbeing manager, said: “People are facing greater challenges to manage their money as the cost of living rises, whilst wages and benefits remain static or reduce.
“This means a growing number of people are falling behind on payments and finding themselves in a spiral of debt. Being in debt can be an incredibly stressful experience, affecting people’s work, relationships and general health and wellbeing.
“This will help us to reach more people and improve the lives of people living with debt.”
