A BEAUTY queen is appealing for city businesses to help her strut her stuff on the international stage.

Anya Gould, 20, from South Bents, won the Miss Sunderland title in 2013 and went on to be placed fourth in Miss Great Britain 2014/2015.

Now she has her sights set on two new crowns: Miss International UK and Miss Intercontinental England. And she hopes a Sunderland business will sponsor her to help her dreams of winning the pageant come true.

Anya, who works part-time at The Salt House in Seaburn, said: “I applied for the competition myself and was over the moon when I found out I’d been shortlisted. As part of the competition you need £350 sponsorship money.

“I would be representing the business at the finals and it would give great publicity to the business. However, I’m happy to share some of the costs too.”

Anya says appearing in previous pageants has fuelled her desire to pursue competing in other contests.

“I was placed fourth in Miss Great Britain, which was such a great experience,” she said. “People think these contests are just about beauty, but it’s about getting to know each girl and what her dreams are.

“It helps you to do charity work and also opens other doors of opportunity. I’m from Sunderland and it would be great to represent a Sunderland business at the final.”

From the UK finals, four lucky winners will be crowned. The overall winner will take home the title of Miss International-UK, winning a trip to Japan to compete in the Miss International final. Three winners will also be crowned for Miss Intercontinental, from England, Scotland and Wales, and will go on to represent their country in the international Miss Intercontinental final.
