VETERANS on Wearide are being urged to look after their mental health as part of a new campaign.
Health experts say one in four people can experience mental health problems in their lives, with those who have been in the Armed Forces no exception.
Veterans can even be at an increased risk due to the difficulties that they sometimes face transferring from military to civilian life.
Now, as part of a drive by the NHS, those experiencing problems are being encouraged to contact their GP.
Anna Burke, of Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust, said: “Veterans who experience mental health issues, their military training and the sense of pride that comes with it can often make them put off seeking help.”
