HEAVY winds have caused extensive damage to homes and businesses across Sunderland.
The gable end of a house in Fulwell crumbled to the ground after high winds struck at 10am today.
Police and fire crews have been called out to a number of incidents, including a live telegraph pole that has fallen into a Houghton garden.
Wearsiders out on the seafront at Roker and Seaburn are also being warned to be careful due to waves crashing into the promenade.
