SIGNING up to the organ donor register is a slam-dunk for Kaylee Davidson-Olley.

Kaylee, from Houghton, is the world’s oldest-surviving baby heart transplant survivor and has teamed up with the Newcastle Eagles basketball team for Congenital Heart Defect Awareness Week.

The Eagles work with the Children’s Heart Unit Fund, which supports the Freeman hospital department where Kaylee had her operation, and she will be the mascot at this week’s game.

Kaylee, 26, was just five-months-old when she had her operation.

“It is something that needs to be talked about with your family and friends,” she said.

“People need to know your reasons for signing the register and people need to be clear on what your final wishes are.”
