SUNDERLAND health service staff have walked out in a row with the Government over pay.
Members of the Unison, GMB and Royal College of Midwives who work at Sunderland Royal Hospital have gone on strike from 7am to 11am.
They argue that the Government’s decision not to award a one per cent pay rise is unfair.
Health secretary Jeremy Hunt has said there will be no pay rise next year.
The hospital said before today that plans were in place to cope with the walkouts.
