A SERVICE to remember children who have died and offer support to their families will be held at a Sunderland church tomorrow – for the last time.

For more than 15 years, chaplains from Sunderland Royal Hospital have arranged the service at St Joseph’s Church in Millfield.

The service is a time of remembrance for those who lost a child at, or near, the time of their birth.

Prior to being at St Joseph’s, the service was held in Monkwearmouth.

Peter Webb, from the hospital chaplaincy, said: “Tomorrow will be the last time we are at St Joseph’s, after many years of holding the services there.

“Next year we are moving to the chapel at the hospital.”

This year’s service will take place at 3pm in St Joseph’s.

Mr Webb added: “As usual, we invite anyone to join us, both for the time of remembrance and some refreshments afterwards.”

The service, led by the hospital chaplains, is seen as a vital support to grieving families and those who support them

More details on the service are available on 569 9180.
