DIETING dream team Donna Burns and her son Daniel have shed nine stone to find a new lease of life.
Donna, of Harraton, feared she would no longer be there for her son Daniel, 15, who has autism, if she continued to pile on the pounds.
Tipping the scales at just over 20st, the 35-year-old had only gone to a Slimming World class to show support for her mum, but the consultant promised Donna results.
A year-and-a-half later and 7st12 lighter, Donna says she feels 17 again.
“I had been overweight for that long that it was ruining my life,” she said. “I thought if I don’t do something soon I’m going to make myself ill.
“I’m a single mum, I have great friends and family, but there’s just me and I was worried about what would happen to Daniel if I wasn’t there.”
Donna, who has slimmed from a size 24 to a size 12, added: “I was starting to panic at the thought of going outside and wouldn’t even get the bus.”
Donna’s new healthy approach to life has rubbed off on Portland School pupil Daniel who has lost a stone.
Donna, who is a full time carer for Daniel, said: “He is so good and thinks about what he’s eating when he has a meal. The school are brilliant too.”
