A MUM of five feels more alive after shedding three stones.

Terrie Edmunds, from Ryhope, tipped the scales at 16st 4lb after piling on the pounds, after the birth of her last child.

Feeling uncomfortable at a dress size 22, Terrie joined Slimming World and, three stones lighter, she says she feels like a new woman.

Terrie, who now weighs 12st 11lbs and is a size 14-16, said: “I’m not from Sunderland originally and don’t have many friends up here.

“I breast fed all my children so I was often tired, lonely and stuck in the house.

“My partner David works away and I would often find myself comfort eating.”

The 38-year-old said she wanted to make a change so she could be a healthier mum for Danielle, 17, Natalie, 11, Layla, 10, William, six and Macey, four.

“I wanted to give them a better future so they could have a mummy who could take them out and run around after them, play football, all the things mums should be doing with their children,” she explained.

Speaking about why Slimming World worked for her, she said: “I’ve tried things like slimming tablets before and they were horrendous.

“Slimming World didn’t feel like I was denying myself.

“Plus, everyone in the group was supportive.

“I was never discouraged or judged.”

She added: “I’m not embarrassed to take the children out and play football anymore.

“I feel on top of the world.”

Terrie has started her own Slimming World group at Doxford Park Community Centre, on Tuesdays at 7.30pm. Call 07456 495790.
