A HOSPICE charity has been given an early Christmas present, thanks to a blooming marvellous donation.
Sunderland Floral Art Club has generously passed on £1,000 to Grace House Hospice after nominating the worthy cause as its chosen charity.
Pam Jameson, of the 40-member club, said: “We’ve been fund-raising for the last two years for the hospice by holding raffles, coffee mornings and other events.
“It’s a great charity and it’s so important for the area.”
Fund-raiser at Grace House Karen Maclennan said: “It was wonderful to be invited to go along to their presentation evening and watch the beautiful Christmas floral decorations made up on stage. It was fascinating.
“I would also like to thank Sunderland Floral Art Club for choosing Grace House to benefit from their fund-raising this year. It was lovely to meet up once again with them all.”
Mrs Jameson added: “Karen has been brilliant.
“She has got so much enthusiasm and she’s invited us down to see the hospice building, which we are really looking forward to.
“It was a brilliant idea to create it and now people can see where their money has gone towards.”
The floral arts club meets on the third Tuesday of each month at 2pm.
Anyone interested in joining Sunderland Floral Art Club, which meets at The Royalty Theatre, off Chester Road, each month, should contact Mrs Jameson on 522 7832.
The group’s next event is a Christmas social on Tuesday, December 4, when there will be coffee from 10.30am and a buffet lunch before a floral demonstration afterwards.
Places must be booked and are £10.
