SUNDERLAND Royal Hospital lived up to its name as the Duke of Kent visited to officially open a new wing.
The development, completed last year, will now be known as the Jubilee Wing.
It includes three 40-bed wards and an Integrated Critical Care Unit, which is one of the most advanced in the country.
John Anderson, chairman of City Hospitals Sunderland, said: “I am delighted that His Royal Highness has taken time out of a very busy schedule to officially open our new Jubilee Wing.
“I am very proud of this development and the staff that work within it to ensure the people of Sunderland receive the very best care and treatment.”
