A KIND-HEARTED fitness fanatic is aiming to raise money for sick children – and get people moving.
Personal trainer Mark Hill, 26, is organising an event to collect as much money as possible for Sunderland Royal Hospital’s neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).
The ward provides life-saving care to poorly tots and vital support to their families.
Mark said: “The neonatal unit is only one of four neonatal intensive care units in the region and people come from all over to use it. It seems like a good charity to help because it’s local, rather than the big ones when you can’t see where your money is going.
“I didn’t know anything about the neonatal unit until I asked – it’s not that well known – so hopefully this will raise awareness.”
Those who attend the event, which will take place at Global Fitness, Ryhope Road, will take part in circuit training, cardiovascular exercise, resistance work and more.
Mark, of Southwick, who is giving up his time for free to run the event, is not charging for the high-energy class, but is asking those who take part for a donation.
He said: “I’ve done stuff for Children In Need before, but I’ve never organised anything like this.
“I’ve had a lot of interest in it so far and I want as many people there as I can get.”
