CARTOON characters sprinkled a little festive magic among poorly youngsters in hospital for Christmas.

The characters visited Sunderland Royal Hospital to bring some festive cheer, and presents, to the children on the ward.

The annual event was organised by Amy Pink, of Pink Entertainment Inc, and Lucyluu and Charlie Promotions.

Amy, 31, from Humbledon, said: “It is nice to take the characters down to the ward for the kids.

“It is a long drag for them, the kids, in the run-up to Christmas, and the day can break that up for them a bit. And I believe we should give a little back too, really.

“Sometimes I go to the RVI too, but I try to focus on Sunderland Royal and it is an annual event.”

The day saw a host of characters including Disney Princesses, Mickey and Minnie Mouse and Spider-an visit the children’s ward.

The children also received presents from various businesses and other donators. Amy, who usually organises the event herself, has been helped this year by Lucy Willis, 23, and Charlotte Knight, 27, of Lucyluu and Charlie Promotions.

Lucy, who also works for Fusion at Sunderland Retail Park, said: “We put the word out and told people if they wanted to donate anything to drop if at the donation point at 100% Essex on Chester Road.

“We had different toys and selection boxes that people had donated, and other donations for the children.

“I had donations from local businesses that I took with me for them.”
