THE second stage of a consultation about creating two new parish councils could be launched next month.
Members of Durham County Council are to be asked to give the go-ahead to seek feedback on more detailed options for the future of new governance arrangements in Durham City and Crook.
The proposals have been put together by a constitution working group following the first stage of the consultation, which took place at the end of last year.
In Durham, 62 per cent of 1,334 residents who replied wanted to see the creation of parish authorities in their area, with 60 per cent of those saying they would like a single parish council.
The county council is asking for permission to go back to residents for their views on more detailed options.
If agreed, it will run from April 2.
