Harbour View, Roker, Sunderland
For drinkers after a pub with a view, this is your kind of place.
Huge conservatory-type windows offer vistas over Sunderland's coastline and marina as you sup your pint.
It makes this pub a transitional one – perfect for day time and night tipples. You'll often find visitors sat outside, watching the world go by.
But you need more than a pretty view to keep punters coming back, and the Harbour View's got a cracking atmosphere to boot.
It seems to be one of Roker's most popular pubs and is regularly packed to the rafters on weekends.
As such, it's a staple on the area's drinking circuit, which also includes the nearby Queen Vic and Roker Hotel.
Downstairs has a New York loft-appearance, with exposed brickwork and plasma screens to keep the sports fans happy.
There's plenty of seating, but make sure you get there early if you want to bag a seat for the night.
Make your way upstairs and the pub becomes Benedict's Bar. Its trendy winebar feel caters for a younger crowd with contemporary decor and a separate bar.
It also doubles up as a function room and hosts the pub's Sunday cavery.
Drinks-wise, guest real ales are a popular choice at The Harbour, with a selection of six priced from 2.50.
However, Wednesday nights are real ale night, where you can sample real ales for 2 a pint.
Other weekly attractions include quiz nights on a Monday and Wednesday.
There's also a wide range of wines available, with a glass of house wine coming in at 2.75.
For spirit drinkers, a vodka and coke costs 2.30 or you can double up on selected spirits for 1 more.
Meanwhile, standard lagers are priced from 2.60 a pint.
