GREEN-thinking youngsters got creative to highlight environment issues.
The aim was to design an eye-catching piece to publicise an environment awareness day event, which takes place this Friday at the Hetton Centre from 10am to 3pm.
The winning entry came from pupils at Hetton Primary School, and their work is now being used around the town in shops and other businesses to promote the environment day.
Hetton resident Pat Robson, of conservation group Hetton Green Watch, explained why Hetton Primary’s entry was chosen as the winner by the judging panel which included Kirsty Pollard, of Durham Wildlife Trust.
Mrs Robson said: “Its simplicity of design, use of colour, subject, content and information of the event, immediately caught the attention of both judges as an outright winner.”
