A SUPPORT group to help grandparents who have become separated from their grandchildren has found a new home.
The Durham City branch of the Grandparents’ Support Group has moved to the Salvation Army’s building, in Saddler Street.
The Durham Christian Partnership, affiliated to the nationwide Grandparents’ Association, will have trained listeners on hand from 11am to 1pm on the first Monday of every month, from next week.
Christina Ord Taylor, who co-founded the branch, said: “We support grandparents who no longer get access to their grandchildren, either through divorce or death.
“In some cases, parents have turned to drugs and the grandchildren have been put up for adoption.
“The service is also for grandparents who might be hurting. Losing grandchildren is a living bereavement.”
