A graduate praised the help she received to build up her experience of work.
Rebecca Dodds applauded the Sunderland Futures project which helps students get their dream career.
Rebecca, 23, from Sunderland, is a graduate intern in the careers service at University of Sunderland.
She was a student in Spanish and tourism, worked at Tarragona in Catalonia for a year and hails it as the “best year of my life.”
After getting expert advice, she is now the one passing on her knowledge to other students.
Her wonderful memories of university life also includes receiving mentoring at the DoubleTree Hilton Hotel at Newcastle Airport.
The whole process, which is so impressively organised by University of Sunderland and the Sunderland Futures movement within it, led to Rebecca urging more businesses to get involved.
“For students in particular, they don’t often get the chance to speak to employers on a one-to-one basis and ask them what they want. They need to have that opportunity.”
The Sunderland Echo has teamed up with University of Sunderland to launch The Future Starts Here campaign.
We want to hear from businesses and community groups which want to get involved in Sunderland Futures by offering paid placements, internships and mentoring.
