A PIZZA shop has served up a tasty donation to the Grace House Appeal.
Pizza Uno, in Pallion, created its own Grace House pizza in honour of the charity, which is building a children’s hospice in Sunderland.
The shop pledged to donate 50p for each one ordered to the appeal – and has now handed over its first slice of the funds.
Karen Maclennan, regional fund-raiser for the Grace House Appeal, said: “What a brilliant idea to have our very own Grace House pizza and for Pizza Uno to make a donation to our appeal every time someone orders it and mentions Grace House.
“If you are thinking about pizza for your tea or supper, please try our Grace House pizza and help build Grace House.”
The special pizza is made with a tomato and herb sauce, mozzarella cheese, chicken, mushrooms, mixed peppers and red onion toppings. There is a vegetarian alternative of tomato, mozzarella cheese and herbs.
The shop, in St Luke’s Terrace, also has Grace House collection boxes so customers can make a donation.
Mohsen Hussein, owner of Pizza Uno, presented £320 to the Grace House Children’s Hospice Appeal.
He said: “It is great to see Pizza Uno taking part in the local community.
“Pizza Uno in Sunderland has been on a mission to raise as much money as it could for Grace House.
“The team in the shop wants to say ‘thank-you’ to everyone who came into the shop and helped in raising this money.”
The Grace House Children’s Hospice will provide support to youngsters and their families from across the North East.
The centre is being built in Southwick, as part of housing group gentoo’s renewal area.
Work started in November last year and is expected to take about 14 months to complete.
