ARTWORK relating to The Lindisfarne Gospels will be displayed across the region.

Dutch artist and graphic designer, Niels Meulman, will create five original pieces of work, based on the words and imagery of the famous book, to be viewed in the North East.

The new artwork created for the Gospels will be displayed in five different outdoor locations from Berwick to Middlesbrough.

The works, which will be created using metallic paints, will be displayed at each venue for 4-6 weeks, depending on weather conditions.

The internationally-known, Niels “Shoe” Meulman was a graffiti legend by the age of 18 signing the word Shoe into his work.

Since then, he has revolutionised the art of writing with calligraffiti which fuses both calligraphy and graffiti together.

His work has been shown as part of various museum collections and international exhibitions.

The Lindisfarne Gospels can be seen at the newly-developed Palace Green at Durham University until September 30.
