ALMOST a third of people from the North East are unsure about what to donate to charity shops, a study claimed.

Research by the British Heart Foundation (BHF) also claimed that almost a fifth actually worry about donating their goods.

To raise awareness of how vital every donation is, BHF shops in the North East have launched the We Love The Things You Bring stock appeal this month.

Staff will give out badges and postcards to customers, reinforcing the importance of their donation in the fight against heart disease.

BHF shops are keen to receive saleable donations of clothing, handbags, shoes, books, DVDs, CDs and bric-a-brac.

BHF Furniture & Electrical stores can collect items for free, including sofas, dining sets, beds, TVs, kettles, toasters and coffee makers.

Retail director Mike Lucas said: “We want to send out a strong message that BHF shops love the things you bring.

“We’re keen to receive all saleable donations to help continue our life-saving work.”
