People are being invited to a free course that helps people to brush up on their online skills.
‘Time to get online’ offers a training programme though a County Durham Housing Group, Dale & Valley Homes, Durham City Homes, East Durham Homes and Teesdale Housing Association partnership, and aims to raise awareness of the benefits of digital technology and show people that the internet is not as daunting as it may appear.
The next interactive session, on Thursday, February 11, between 2pm and 4pm at Horden Youth and Community Centre, will team attendees up with a designated ‘Digital Champion’, who will highlight the basics of the online world in an informal setting.
By signing up,participants will see the advantages the internet offers, including keeping in touch with friends and family, looking for a new job and saving money.
Vickie Musgrove, Digital Inclusion Project Co-ordinator, said: “Most jobs today require some form of IT skills, and our everyday society is more and more placed within a digital platform.
“We want to show people that online technology is nothing to be afraid of and the benefits in all aspects of life are endless.”
