A funeral directors has been hailed for the help it gives families as they say their final goodbyes.

John G Hogg Family Funeral Directors has been nominated for small business of the year and business of the year sections, in the Sunderland Echo Portfolio Business Awards.

Through the nominations for both awards, it celebrates the excellence and professional commitment in one of the most difficult and challenging areas of serving the public

The Sunderland firm has funeral homes in Hendon, Pallion and Farringdon.

Funeral director John Hogg said he was “delighted” at the nomination and added: “It proves we are doing the job right.”

He said the nomination recognised the “hard work, dedication and professionalism of all my colleagues” and said it celebrated “the excellence and professional commitment in one of the most difficult and challenging areas of serving the public”.

“The team at John G Hogg Family Funeral Directors has set a very high standard and are delighted to be nominated,” he said.

This year’s awards will be presented at a ceremony at the Stadium of Light on Thursday, October 15.
