THE funeral of a Sunderland teenager killed in a river tragedy will take place next week.
Jordan Roberts’s body was found on Tuesday, September 8, a day after the 17-year-old and his older brother, Callum, had got into difficulty in the River Wear at Finchale Priory, the day before.
Callum, 19, was admitted to University Hospital of North Durham after the incident, but has since been discharged after making a full recovery.
Friends of Jordan, who was from Downhill, have since started a fund to raise money for his grieving family, which has reached the £1,000 mark.
A vigil was held in his name at Downhill skate park days after his death, with Chinese lanterns released in his memory.
The funeral of the former Red House Academy pupil will take place at Holy Trinity Church, in Southwick, at 10.30am on Tuesday, before interment at Southwick Cemetery afterwards.
