HUNDREDS of pounds have been raised for a cancer charity at a multi-cultural evening.
Fashion retailer Bon Marche teamed up with Indian Cultural Association (ICA) to host the event at its Sunderland store.
Food sales at a city church and donations from Indian nurses based at Sunderland Royal Hospital and raised a total of £510.
More than 75 customers went to the ICA-sponsored fashion show and took part in a raffle to win prizes, including a food hamper donated by the New India store in Hylton Road and an Easter cake from Edinburgh bakery in Fence Houses.
Store manager Rita Richardson said: “Overall, the event was a great success and we achieved a community spirit at Bon Marche with the local Indian community and other customers.
“Bon Marche staff would like to thank the ICA president Matthew Chitteth and its members for their efforts.”
