Fun with flowers

LEARN the art of beautiful blooms at Durham Cathedral.

The historic landmark is offering visitors an insight into the art of flower arranging for churches, as part of the Durham Flower Festival.

Two demonstrations will be taking place in the Chapter House, where experienced demonstrators Susan Hall and Judith Clancy will be talking the people through a series of arrangements.

For those who prefer food to flowers, a Local Producers’ Market will be taking place in the Cathedral Cloister.

Run by Durham City Markets, a wide range of sellers will be offering their wares including cheese, gluten-free specialities, cupcakes and homemade fudge.

The events are all being run as part of the Durham Flower Festival, which takes place at Houghall College across the weekend of August 30.

Durham Cathedral’s flower demonstrations will take place at 11am and 2pm in the Chapter House, and the market in the Cloister runs from 10am until 4pm.
