Roker Flower Club had a wonderful afternoon tea and talk about Bees and Honey last month. The club will meet on Friday at Roker Methodist Church at 2.15pm. New members are welcome.

An autumn coffee morning will be held on Saturday, November 5, at The New Church, Shields Road, Seaburn Dene, starting at 10.30am. Stalls will include: £1 stall, cakes, tombola, cards, marmalade and ginger cordial, raffle and children’s games.

All Saints’ Mothers’ Union will meet in the vestry meeting room at All Saints’ Church on Monday, October 24, at 2pm. Speaker will be Gillian Patton. The branch is celebrating 100 years of membership.

Roker United Reformed Church Fellowship meets on Tuesday, October 25, at 2pm. There will be crafts with Cath, Sylvia and Margaret.

Bede’s Bakehouse Reading Group, a St Peter’s Church, Monkwearmouth, will meet on Thursday from 3pm to 4pm for a lively discussion of ‘Birdsong’ by Sebastian Faulks.

A Christmas fair will be held at Cuthbertson Court, Dykelands Road, on Saturday, October 29, from 1.30pm to 3.30pm. There will be cakes, gifts, flowers, candles, sewing, knit wear, cards, jewellery, tombola, refreshments and so much more. Entry is free. Contact Jaclyn on 07855015507 for more details.

Seaburn (Men’s) Probus Club will meet in Roker Methodist Church, at the junction of Lonsdale Road and Roker Park Road, tomorrow at 10am.

Wizards, Goblins and forbidden love, a story based on Sir Walter Scott’s The Lay of the Last Minstrel, will be presented by Steve Watts at Bede’s Bakehouse, St Peter’s Church Monkwearmouth, on Thursday from 2pm to 3pm. Fulwell WI will meets tonight in Fulwell Community Centre, Chapman Street at 7.15pm. Edmund Foster will give a short talk on witches. This will be a Halloween social and the top table will be carved pumpkins.

All Saints’ Ladies’ Fellowship will meet in the vestry meeting room at All Saints’ Church, Fulwell Road, tomorrow at 7pm. Enid Phillips will talk about My work in New Zealand.

A Fulwell ward surgery will be held in Fulwell Library, Dene Lane, on Saturday from 10.30am to 11.30am, when ward Councillor Howe, or Councillor Francis will be in attendance.
