Back to School Social Evening at Bede’s Bakehouse on Friday, 16th September, at 7pm – tickets £6. Go dressed in school uniform (prize for best). Be prepared to sit your entrance exam (quiz). School meal will be provided, take your own liquid refreshments. Beware the wrath of the headmaster.

Fulwell WI meets on Tuesday, 20th September, in Fulwell Community Centre, Chapman Street at 7.15pm. Speaker John Yearnshire will speak on ‘The Williamson Family of Whitburn Hall’. Take a friend for free. All ladies are welcome.

Service of Remembrance and Thanksgiving at All Saints’ Church on Wednesday, 14th September, at 1pm followed by light refreshments in the Vestry Meeting Room with an opportunity to talk or sit quietly in Church. The service lasts about 20 minutes.

Balletbefit adult classes at Fulwell Community Centre, Chapman Street. Fitness with a difference. Accessible to everyone, suitable for all abilities and no need to have previous dance experience. Monday evenings 7pm to 9pm. Workout to dance inspired shaping and exercise classes in a hugely enjoyable way to improve strength, grace and poise. Helen Wilson is a Balletbefit Certified instructor. The Wearside Field Club next meets tonight at 7.30pm in Fulwell Community Centre, Chapman Street, Fulwell. Speaker is John Yearnshire: with a talk on ‘The Great Train Robbery’ Bookings will be taken for the September walk at Alnwick led by Brian Gray. The October walk will be ‘Five Parks’ Newcastle led by Brian Gray. Meet at Park Lane Interchange at 10am. All are welcome to attend.

Wearside Photo Imaging is a small camera club of photographic enthusiasts who meet on the first and third Wednesday of each month at Fulwell Community Association, Chapman Street, Fulwell at 7pm. Activities are many and aimed at increasing knowledge in photography and image manipulation. New members are welcome.

Ballroom Dancing has re-started at the Naval Club in Roker Avenue on Weds at 8pm. Entrance fee is £1.50. All are welcome.

All Saints’ Ladies Fellowship meets in the vestry meeting room at All Saints’ Church, Fulwell Road on Wednesday, 14th September, at 7.45pm. All ladies are welcome.

To celebrate the 50th Anniversary of year 1966 at Monkwearmouth Grammar School, a reunion party at the Queen Victoria Hotel, Harbour View on Friday, 16th September, has been organised by Martin Howey and Susan Cunningham (Patterson). The event starts at 7.30pm with full bar, buffet and music. 1966 pupils are warmly invited.
