The front door of a Sunderland home was damaged after a fire broke out in a wheelie bin.

Fire crews were called to a flat in Donnison Gardens in the East End at 2.21pm on Wednesday.

Ten firefighters from Marley Park fire station tackled the blaze in the bin, which had spread to an external circuit breaker.

The front door and letter box of the flat in the two-storey end terrace property were 10 per cent damaged. The cause is unknown.
