A SUNDERLAND journalist will not face charges after being arrested as part of investigations into the News of the World hacking scandal.
Bethany Usher, a former reporter at the Sunderland Echo, News of the World and The People, was was arrested last week by phone hacking probe detectives.
But Scotland Yard confirmed today Ms Usher will face no further action.
The University of Teesside journalism lecturer said in a statement: “The past week has been very difficult but I am pleased I have now been cleared of any wrongdoing.
“I would like to thank the investigating officers involved for the professional way they have dealt with the inquiries.
“I would also like to thank my family, friends and legal representatives for their support.”
