FLIGHTS from Newcastle International Airways are among the most punctual in the UK.
In the second quarter of 2012, 84 per cent of scheduled flights from the region’s largest airport were on time – a one per cent increase from the April to June 2011.
The overall on-time performance, defined as the proportion of flights arriving or departing early or up to 15 minutes late, of scheduled flights at the 10 UK airports monitored, was 78 per cent.
The average delay across all scheduled flights monitored across the airports was 12 minutes, one minute more than in the second quarter of 2011. Newcastle Airport’s average delay came in at just 10 minutes.
Graeme Mason, of the airport, said: “The increase in on-time performance is excellent news for our airline partners and of course, our passengers.
“We are proud of our punctuality record and continually work to offer a first-rate service for those flying to and from our airport. It goes to show what successes can be achieved when staff working for the airport, airlines and handling agents all pull together.”
