A STRIKE by firefighters ended this weekend.
The members of the Fire Brigades Union (FBU) were on strike intermittently between August 9 and Saturday as part of an on-going row over pensions.
During the periods of industrial action, Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue received 44 calls, including four for the same incidents.
The call-outs included six fires, two rescues, 27 false alarms and three road crashes.
The FBU say the number of call-outs is average for this time of year.
