A FITNESS weekend aims to help people beat the bulge.

Wear-Fit founder and work-out fanatic Mel Brewis, 30, of Roker, came up with idea of Love Fitness weekends.

The first weekend at Hardwick Hall, in County Durham, combined exercise classes with healthy eating and massages.

A second weekend, due to take place there in October 20 and 21, will now be held at Maften Hall, near Hexham.

Mel organised the event with fellow fitness instructor Sarah Campbell, 36, from Cleadon.

She said: “We have known each other for a number of years and both have over 10 years of experience in the fitness industry. Between us, we can offer such a broad programme of classes.

“We decided to set up Love Fitness Breaks as we feel it was an area that hadn’t really been tapped into.

“The advantages of taking someone away for a fitness weekend break is that it allows clients try out many different classes.

“They can take part in as much or as little exercise as they feel comfortable, kick-start their fitness regime, meet new friends and take time to focus on themselves.”

About 20 women attended the first fitness weekend in March and they took part in exercise sessions including cardio, circuit training, Pilates and yoga.

As well as fitness classes, the event will also include unlimited use of the stately home’s spa and pool.
