AN event celebrating the fabulous 1950s will be hosted at Beamish this weekend.
The festival of fashion, food and family fun will see a Mr and Mrs Beamish contest, as well as a Master and Miss Beamish competition for under 16s, challenging visitors to dust off their gear from the era and look the part.
Dancing at the Tanner Hop with music from a live band, a chance to be given a hairdo from the time and a look at the “modern” gadgets and appliances which were used around the house have also been lined up.
To celebrate the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II, there is a cake competition where everyone is invited to take a homemade cake and see if they can win the crown.
A donation station will be set up for visitors who want to offer objects from the 1950s.
