Supporters heading to Sunderland’s game against Tottenham Hotspur this Sunday are being warned about potential traffic issues.

Match goers are advised to check for any road closures and to also leave additional time for their journey, as roads, the Metro system, buses and trains will all be experiencing additional demand.

SAFC’s head of safety, Paul Weir said: “Sunday will be a busy day for the region with two high profile sporting events taking place and fans attending the game should ensure that they take plan their journey very carefully to take into account the potential for delays.

“The approach roads to the stadium are likely to be very busy both before and after the game and supporters are asked to show patience and understanding when making their way to and from the match.”
