MPS have been subjected to a very different set of votes after a website was launched asking people to rate their looks.

Wearside and Durham MPs have been ranked on their physical appearance on the controversial internet site, which has been put together by Made in Chelsea TV star Francis Boulle.

While local MPs have been reluctant to comment, voters in Sunderland had a mixed reaction to the website.

The sexymp.co.uk site rated Houghton and Sunderland South Labour MP Bridget Phillipson at 15 out of 142 women MPs; Sunderland Central MP Julie Elliot at 56; Roberta Blackman-Woods, City of Durham MP at 83, and Sharon Hodgson, Washington and Sunderland West MP, at 95.

The website shows visitors photos of two MPs and asks them which one they would rather sleep with, and then lists them in order of attractiveness depending on the number of votes.

Website founder Francis said: “In addition to my wanting to create a fun and memorable tool to help the British public get to know their Members of Parliament, I thought it would be an interesting opportunity to hold the first ever parliamentary beauty contest and find out once and for all which MPs and parties have the most sex-appeal.”

“Although I fully expect this to offend some people, this was never my intention and I hope you will see the funny side.”

In the male category, Sunderland AFC non-executive vice-chairman and South Shields MP David Miliband, was ranked 128th out of 506 male MPs. Kevan Jones, North Durham MP, was at 190 and Grahame Morris, Easington’s MP, was at 492.

Top male MP was Tory Daniel Kawczynski, who represents Shrewsbury, while the highest ranking female was Penny Mordaunt, the Conservative Portsmouth North MP.
