The loved ones of a 22-year-old who died after his motorcycle crashed into a wall have spoken of how he was an inspiration.

Michael Laidler, 22, from West Rainton was declared dead at the scene after the motorbike he was travelling on collided with a wall.

The collision happened at around 11.25am on Wednesday on a farm track about half-a-mile south of the C77 road between Rookhope and Ireshopeburn.

Michael’s family said: “Michael was an inspiration to his family and friends.

“He lived his life to the full and took every opportunity that came his way, he was someone who always found adventure and was never afraid to follow his dreams.

“Michael was loved dearly by all of his family, he will be deeply missed.”

Anyone who saw the collision or the motorcycle in the time leading up to it is asked to contact police on 101.
