Man dies after being hit by Metro train named
A man who died after a collision with a Metro train has been named by police.
Officers and paramedics were called to the tracks between Heworth and Felling stations on December 7.
They had been told a man had been hit by a Metro train at around 7.13pm.
The body of a 40-year-old man was discovered on the tracks.
The man has been identified as Peter Stansfield, 40, from Heaton in Newcastle. His family have been informed of his death.
