Families can explore the wonders of low tide

Have your say

FAMILIES can discover what can be washed up with the waves in an afternoon of activities to celebrate the coast.

The free Low Tide Day event will be hosted at Seaham Hall car park on Sunday, from noon until 4pm.

The entertainment programme includes traditional seaside fun such as Punch and Judy shows and rockpool rambles, led by experts who will be able to explain about the living things found dwelling in the sea.

A chance to try a hand at crafts or buy home-made items, face-painting and balloon-modelling, stalls, a tree-sculpting display and a chance to try out a mini-gym will also be part of the session.

It is being organised by the Durham Heritage Coast, Durham County Council, the National Trust, Natural England, Limestone Landscapes and the Durham Wildlife Trust.
