A BUS company is running extra services to ensure families make it to Sunderland International Airshow on time.

Go North East is organising special bus routes from the city centre, Washington, Concord, Durham, Houghton and East Herrington to the three-day event, which starts on Friday.

From Sunderland Interchange and Fawcett Street, travellers can catch the A1, which will run frequently on Friday night and all day on Saturday and Sunday.

From Washington, Concord, Sulgrave and Southwick, they can use the A2, which runs every 20 minutes on Friday night and all day on Saturday and Sunday.

From Durham, Belmont, Houghton and East Herrington, visitors can catch the A3, which runs hourly during the day on Saturday and Sunday.

Extra buses will use route 99 – Hylton Castle, Town End Farm, Downhill, Witherwack to Seaburn – Saturday and Sunday.

Stephen King, Go North East’s marketing and sales manager, said: “We’re really glad to be running extra buses to the 2013 Sunderland International Airshow.

“It’s a great day out for all the family, and we can take the stress of driving and parking away with our extra buses which take you to Seaburn.

“We’ve got a Family Day Ticket, which gives unlimited travel on all our buses for a day for two adults and up to three children travelling together.”
